Party Gaming chief executive Jim Ryan addressed a number of questions on operational issues facing Party Gaming during his post-results press conference Friday, and one of these concerned the disruption of the Party Gaming – Danske Spil agreement to partner going into a newly liberalised Danish gambling market.

Licensing in Denmark comes into full effect in January 2011, and the b2b partnership would have seen state monopoly Danske Spil provided with online poker and casino products by Ryan’s company.

Spin3, the mobile gambling technology provider and Microgaming associate has proved that it has maintained its high professional standards by passing its annual eCOGRA review with flying colours this week.

Spin3 initially achieved eCOGRA accreditation in June 2009 after a stiff inspection, and has been continually monitored in respect of its operational conduct and software fairness by the independent player protection and standards body throughout the year.

eCOGRA compliance manager Sean Roberts conducted the second review, interacting with Spin3′s deployment and support manager, Michael Sabbag.

In his report to the eCOGRA independent directors, Roberts noted: “This company’s ability to meet stringent regulatory and compliance objectives whilst delivering on innovation and entertainment is testament to its focus on providing cutting edge reliable solutions.”

Spin3 works with several major online gambling groups, including Ladbrokes, Fortune Lounge, Jackpot Factory and 32Red.

888 Holdings plc has released its Q2/2010 interim report and trading update, showcasing continued success in b2c and b2b activities over the quarter and the year to date.

Financial highlights include:

• Total Operating Income at US$61 million (Q2,2009: US$61 million), same level as Q2 2009
• As at 30 June 2010, 888 had 7.9 million online casino, poker and sport real money registered customer accounts, representing an increase of 22% since 30 June 2009
• Total Operating Income B2C at US$52million (Q2,2009: US$48 million), an increase of 6%.
• Total Operating Income B2C Bingo at US$13 million (Q2,2009: US$3 million), an increase of 372%.
• Total Operating Income B2C Emerging Offering at US$4.4 million (Q2,2009: US$4 million) an increase of 11%.
• Total Operating Income B2B at US$10 million (Q2,2009: US$12 million), a decrease of 24%, but a 3% increase on a pro-forma basis.
• Group Total Operating Income in H1,2010 at US$130 (H1,2009: US$118 million), an increase of 10%.
• Total Operating Income B2C in H1,2010 at US$110 (H1,2009: US$94 million), an increase of 18%.

After playing football just a few months ago in Oregon, Jeremiah Masoli has found a new team in Mississippi. The University of Mississippi Rebels have decided to take a chance on a quarterback who has had several off-field incidents in the past. College football betting lines would be more favorable towards the Rebels if Masoli makes the starting roster.

Masoli was dismissed in June for two run-ins with police that led to his enrollment with at Ole Miss. Head coach Houston Nutt offered him a walk-on spot on the team after meeting with Masoli over the weekend.

NCAA rules allow Masoli to play immediately because he has already earned his undergraduate degree.

To date, Paul the Octopus has only made predictions on major football matches.  His World Cup picks were perfect including a selection of Spain to win outright in Sunday’s final.  So will Paul make his picks for the 2010 Open Championship this week?

Paul did veer off course a bit with a pick on a game that did not feature Germany.  All other picks prior to Sunday were games that featured the German side.

While it still may be early, the 2010 World Series of Poker (WSOP) main event featured two ladies among the top 10 chip leaders.  Aside from the 2007 World Series of Poker Europe main event, no woman has ever made the final table of the WSOP main event.  One of the more exciting features of the main event in recent years has been anticipation surrounding the "last woman standing". 

Sasha Rosewood and Vanessa Selbst were the two women holding the number 7 and number 8 chip count spots, respectively, heading into Sunday’s play.

The 2008 World Series of Poker champion Peter Eastgate is retiring from the world of poker according to the Associated Press.

"I was bored of the game, lacking motivation, did not need the money any more so saw no point in continuing," Peter Eastgate told The Associated Press in a Facebook message on Wednesday. "In case I return, it will be because I need an income again or because I am bored doing nothing."

Eastgate told the AP he has no immediate plans and isn’t sure what he will do next.

A 24-year-old Danish poker player who won $9.15 million at the 2008 World Series of Poker main event. 

"When I started playing poker for a living, it was never my goal to spend the rest of my life as a professional poker player," Eastgate said.

One of the most famous female players, Jennifer Tilly, found herself out of the 2010 World Series of Poker (WSOP) main event quite early in Day 2.

Tilly is also one of the most notable celebrity poker players who has appeared in such classic films as Bride of Chucky, Pigs Next Store, Bound and Seed of Chucky.

Her total live tournament career winnings to date are just under $500,000.  She has one WSOP bracelet from 2005 when Tilly won Event #26 – WSOP Ladies – No Limit Hold’em. 

Other notable exits on Tuesday included Erick Lindgren, who has over $6.7 million in live tournament career winnings and one WSOP bracelet. <
